School Admissions
It is common place for authorities to provide parents
with the opportunity to express a preference for the primary or secondary school
that they wish their children to join. Preference forms are sent to parents so
that they can write down the names of the schools that they would like their
children to attend. Normally they can write down the names of up to three
schools in order of preference. These forms are then returned to the Admissions
Department of the local authority for processing.
The Admissions Authority has a duty to operate its published admissions
procedures fairly and equally for all applicants. Using an automated software
process ensures that all applications are processed in a correct and timely
manner.
The solution developed by ImageFast automates the collation and interpretation
of preference forms that are completed by parents. Images of the forms are
captured by scanning and these electronic forms pass through a powerful
recognition engine that is able to extract data from the form. This data is then
exported to a standard format such as Excel, MS Access or CSV. It can also be
written directly to any ODBC compliant database.
